Singing began early for Jakub Andrew, “I was sitting in the bathtub at two years old, hollering among the bubbles,” proclaims the singer songwriter. “I was always around musical instruments as a youngster, and still have photographs of myself plucking at a guitar, sitting at the piano, or causing a scene on a drum set.”

“At age 7, I owned a cheap Yamaha keyboard, and would dub tapes with current pop songs along with my own, pretending I was on the radio. I ended up with three low-end stereos stacked on top of each other, becoming my ‘workstation.’ In the 4th grade, I began singing in the school choir, and realized it was my favorite thing in the world!”

Music was a Godsend for the 17-year-old young man from Canton, Ohio, “I grew up in a rough, city neighborhood filled with violence and substance abuse. As a young child, I was pretty much confined to my yard and the house during my free time, which let me explore music quite extensively. I have taken two years of lessons for guitar and piano when I was younger- the rest is all self taught. I've received six years of professional vocal training in a touring children's choir, and have had the privilege to be a part of two national tours, and one international tour, where we shared the stage with the China Children's Choir in Beijing, China in 2005.”

If the turmoil outside led Jakub to music, the turmoil of his parents divorce led to his strength of character inside, “My entire situation now depended on the rocky childhood I had, moving from family to family, to where I am now. Growing up in a rough environment, I developed a sense of a resolute determination to keep my chin up, no matter what went on around me. For me, Jesus Christ has given me the ability to see life through new eyes. Life is only lived once, and there's so much out there to be shown great love. I hope by the time my life is through, people will see that I have loved to the fullest.”

As a high school senior, Jakub is looking anxiously to the future, “Most of my friends are college age, and so being a senior in high school couldn't have come sooner. I don't have major college plans. Before I go to school, I intend to pursue my passion for music to the fullest!”

Currently, he is a member of the Electropop band Mixtape Metro, along with bass player Evan and drummer Josh. He is also working on a solo project he named for the way he greets people called, HeyHiHello!

With his career beginning to blossom, Jakub is looking forward to sharing his music, “I write music that will put a smile on my face- and I hope it gets the listener beaming with a giant smile! My songs are cheerful and calming, yet energetic and have an animated spirit. Writing music is my drug and my antidote. It challenges me to find out what I really think and feel. There's a world out there where we see ourselves as anything we want to be, and I want to make that lucid dream a reality for some people.”
