Junior Doctor to the stage, stat! Those are not words typically associated with the music, industry, but that’s what makes this band different from the norm. Jarrod Kearney, Mark Hartman, Richard Peidro and Thomas J. DeSiena had all set a course for the bright lights of the operating room when they discovered their paths were actually leading in a much different direction, the bright lights of the stage. “All of us were in bands before. I was in several bands that played with some of Mark's old bands. A couple years later, all the current members applied, and were accepted, to the same medical school. We tried our best to stay focused in an academic atmosphere, but realized music was the driving force in all of our lives so we dropped out and used our tuition money to upgrade our equipment and start the band Junior Doctor,” explains drummer Jarrod Kearney.

Jarrod didn’t fall far from the family practice, “My father is my main musical inspiration. He is a doctor, but used to tour with his band to Europe. When I was nine years old, my mom bought me my first guitar as a birthday present. I'm a self-taught guitar player and around 7th grade, I started a band as a drummer and discovered my passion. I can't help but to drum along with anything that ticks. Drumming is what makes me tick. ”

Jarrod, a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania says of his childhood, “My mother stayed at home to raise my older brother and me. When I was ten, my family adopted my amazing sister, who was five, and, at the time, was in a very rough home situation.”

“When I was younger, I was never satisfied with the friends I made. Once I discovered music, I realized I could automatically connect with any other person interested in music. So, from that point on, I surrounded myself with musicians and fans of music. My life revolves around music, so all of the experiences in my life affect the music I make. Listen to my music. Hear my life. I am very passionate about my music and I figure people will always listen to music; why not give them a little dose of my style. ”

With Mark Hartman as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Thomas J. DeSiena on lead guitar and back-up vocals, and Richard Peidro on bass. Jarrod describes Junior Doctor as a band, “Charged with high-energy rhythms and riffs. Lyrics that will make you get up off your feet and dance. I see the future of Junior Doctor going sky high starting with a major label-recording contract. After that, I believe, the crystal ball shows sold out arena tours, lunch boxes, sleeping bags, toothbrushes, action figures and much, much more,” he says laughing.

The four med school dropouts are currently promoting their EP Take the Pain. “We have dedicated fans worldwide helping to spread the word. We hope, within the year, to have a full length album released along with a few music videos,” Jarrod says.

“I wish real life were like a movie; a soundtrack mixed with carefully selected scenes from a life or story,” muses Jarrod. Four guys trading scrubs and stethoscopes for groupies and microphones, makes the saga of Junior Doctor a pretty good start to what promises to be an epic story.
