Oozing style in both looks and sound, nineteen-year-old J. Beale is a gentleman with a plan. Not wanting to be known just as a singer, J. Beale wants to incorporate all aspects of the creative process. “I sing, rap, produce, and write my music and I want to be the best at all four of those. I don't want people to just see me as a good singer. I want people to see me as a great music figure in general,” he says with a confidence backed with talent.

Born in Manassas, Virginia as Julian Devonn Beale, he was eleven years old when he realized he was drawn to music, “I recorded my first rap through a sound recorder on my home computer. Ever since then, it’s been music 24/7.”

Calling his music R&B Pop with a hip-hop swagger, J. Beale wants his music to be, “something that people will listen to and feel refreshed after hearing it.” He also has a well thought out plan; “I talk to the ladies in most of my music. I want every girl in the world to be my fan,” he proclaims with a smile.

As a child he says, “My parents raised me to be a respectful young man. I would say I was just like any other young kid growing up in the city. I was a smart kid. I got A's and B's for the most part in school. I was really artistic, though. I played violin from fourth grade until eleventh grade. I was always in the advanced drawing and painting classes.”

“My childhood was pretty different than what people might expect. I was a local little league football star, believe it or not. I'm pretty fast. I was fortunate enough to be a first team all-state wide receiver in high school and our team won the state championship in 2006. But really I just liked to have fun. I was always at the skating rink or at a party. Everybody knew me and the crew I hung with.”

“My family is a very important part of me,” he continues. “My mom, dad, and little sister are the reason I grind so hard for my dream. My parents have worked so hard to get me where I am today. I feel that if I work hard, it will show my sister that she has to do the same. To sum it all up, we are a very close family that can never be broken.”

“When I see other artists making good music, that inspires me. I watch so many music videos and listen to so much music and every time I hear something hot, I go right in the studio and try to outdo the song I just listened to. Every verse and chorus that I write, I try to make just as good as theirs and my fans believe I'm doing a good job at it. I've received a lot of positive feedback, which has made me realize I do have some talent.”

“I'm an outgoing person that just wants everyone around me to enjoy themselves. I don't believe life should be hard, so I take things as they come and move forward. I am a perfectionist, though. Everything I do, I want it to be perfect, whether it be a song, or a drawing, even down to my outfit I put on everyday.”

J. Beale is relocating to Orlando, Florida, this summer to attend recording arts school. “I have a lot to juggle with music and trying to get good grades. I'm just working hard to make my dreams come true. I recently signed a management deal with Uplifted Awareness. Right now, I'm focused on getting radio spins and doing shows to gain more exposure. I want to do this because I want my fans to get to see me in action and not just think of me as a picture on my Myspace. I'm working on a few songs right now that are going to be big!” he says with confidence. “In the stage that my career is in right now, it's all about putting out the right songs. You can have the right image and connections, but if you don't have the material to back you up, it won't do you any good.”

Eventually J. Beale would like to own his own label and a nightclub, but for now his attention is on his music. “I would have to say that music is my fuel, without it, I can't move forward.. I do this because I love what music can do for a person's life. I know when I hear a song; it can change my whole day or just make me forget about something that may be stressing me out. It’s like an escape from everything bad that happens in my life. Music means almost everything to me besides family and God. God gave me my gift and my family gave me the drive to make my dreams come true.”
