Peggy Schmidt, a professional vocalist, has been singing for more than 15 years. “I have been playing music or singing it since a very young age. I started with playing the piano at the age of seven,” she said. “I am currently a stay at home mom with three children. I'm hoping to get back into singing professionally because it's something I love to do that has so much flexibility. I have performed at wedding ceremonies, funerals and other special occasions. I have done some work as a studio musician. I'm also hoping to get into something I've always been interested in, voice over work. You can hear some samples on my website.”
Peggy is originally from Sussex , Wisconsin . “I had a very happy childhood, but I was a bit hyper and obnoxious!” she laughed. “I was kind of a tom boy. But I have many happy memories of my childhood. I was raised by two loving parents in a happy home with two brothers and a sister. Things took a big U-turn in my late teen years and early twenties. My Grandpa passed away unexpectedly, and then my Dad a month later, also unexpectedly. That was quite a blow. Then there was a series of smaller unfortunate occurrences through my twenties. Once the clouds cleared a little, I started to realize ‘Hey, I did it, I got through it!’ Then the more positive things came in my thirties. I got married to a wonderful man, and we have three beautiful children. I couldn't say enough about how now my family has changed my life and how wonderful they are!” Peggy said.
Her family is also into music. “I came from a musical family,” Peggy said. “Both of my parents loved music and played a little. They very much encouraged me to pursue a career in music. Both of my older brothers were drummers in several bands. They both still enjoy playing for fun.”
Peggy plays several instruments – “Piano, violin, French horn, flute, limited guitar and drums. I hope to someday learn them all! My husband promised he would buy me a harp one day, but I'm not holding my breath!” Peggy chuckled. She also had formal piano lessons by two separate in-home teachers, “In middle school, I took piano at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music for a few years. I also had violin and flute lessons later in life,” she said.
Peggy started singing casually at weddings. “I loved doing it, and before I realized it, jobs were coming in like crazy, but we decided to stop after a few years and many weddings. Even though Peggy is very busy with her young family, she is now hoping to get fully back into music. “I'm interested in getting things going again. I would really like to establish a place in the field of voiceover work and working as a studio musician. I have access to many talented musicians who play different styles of music. I can help to customize the music for any occasion or event needing music,” she said.
