”Our first show was kind of funny. It was for a friend’s birthday party and we pretty much just sang to a CD and Mike played bass, which was already in the track. It was pretty similar to Ashley Simpson on whatever late night show it was when they discovered she was lip syncing. Mike wore sugar daddy pants and Bucket wore a red jumpsuit (prior to the red jumpsuit apparatus), and there was a lot of silly string and cardboard robots involved.....and my moms Dell.” Laughs Aidan Finn, 17, one third of the electronica band, The Homecoming.

The other two thirds of the band consists of fifteen-year-old Matthew “Bucket” McVaney and Michael Sypherd, 20. Aidan started their band first with Bucket, and then with Mike, “We adopted Mike because we were too scared to play a show with just two of us! It kinda evolved and about like a year ago, we actually started up the line we have today, two keyboards and a guitar. We’ve been doing like we are now for about a year.”

Bonded by their faith and a quirky sense of humor, the talented trio from Ohio, are working towards building their fan base and graduating from high school.. “It would be a huge blessing if we could just do some fun little tours and get to travel and meet people. I love to travel, so its pretty much up to God, but I’m down for whatever!” states Aidan.

“I would really like, after high school, to just try to make it in the music industry...get signed, go on tour, etcetera, but I’ll have to see what God has in store,” intones Bucket.

It’s not often that you can hear the words God and poop in the same sentence, but Bucket manages it, pouring out information in a whirlwind, “My nickname is bucket because when I was a baby, I would poop my diaper, and it hung down really low and it looked like it was hanging like a bucket...I accepted Christ when I was 12 and that’s how I try to live everyday...with Jesus Christ.” He continues, “ My childhood was not too shabby, my parents are sweet. My brothers are older. I have been singing since I was like three years old, but I played my first guitar at the age of twelve. There’s something magical about remembering childhood and I really like singing about it. Call me nostalgic.”

Aiden, too, says, “I was raised in a loving and supporting family.” His musicality started from gospel music, “When I was a child, I always sung Michael W. Smith songs. I knew every word to every song. Then I started singing more in music and church.

The Homecoming, “just got an amazing manager and he helps out soooo much... we are just trying to get our name out there more,” Explains Aidan.

Bucket adds, “We're defiantly tryin to play different regions we haven’t played yet. Hopefully, we can get our stuff out to some dudes in suits who like it!

Keeping their music, according to Aidan, “pretty enjoyable and relatively simple,” the trio’s message is also simple, Bucket enthuses, “We love everybody!”

Aidan is a bit more philosophical, “We love Jesus and believe He is the only reason worth living and that He loves you and everyone!!

Their music, like their attitude makes The Homecoming a breath of fresh air blowing through a melodious universe.
