Ryan Sallis claims his musical propensity started early, “I was rockin in the womb!” he declares, laughing, “No, I actually didn’t get my first guitar until I was twenty years old for Christmas. Crazy huh? I guess I practice a lot.” Describing his music as a blend of acoustic-soul with some folk rock infused, 24-year-old Ryan lends his soulful voice and songwriting skills to his performances around the Los Angeles area.

The Wisconsin native, raised, along with his older brother and younger sister by his mother, in less than ideal circumstances, cites her influence for his being, “so sensitive and independent.” He explains, “I am a simple, yet complex, soul, I’ve been through a lot in my relatively young life and don’t regret any of it. It’s easy to regret things that don’t go your way, but in the scheme of things, my life could be worse. I have yet to be dealt a twenty-one on the first hand but I’ll sure as hell hold out for the fifth card in order to win the hand.”

When he’s not playing his guitar and singing he spends his time playing soccer, “I love soccer, I played from youth throughout college. I also enjoy watching movies and the occasional reality TV show when no one’s looking.”

With his first album, Brighter Days, being released the first of this year, Ryan is working to release his sophomore album to the world and looks forward to doing, “a lot of touring so I can meet new people, see new places and spread the music that is an extension of my soul…kind of cheesy, I know.” He hopes his music will strike a chord with his fans and help them get to know him, he wants his fans to listen, “really listen to the music, to the words, it speaks volumes about me.” Though, as almost an afterthought, he adds, “I’m a mystery to myself still.”
